Meet
Jake’s life was rough right off the bat. He was born to be meat, and his mother abandoned him when he was born, life was rough for poor Jake. He had to be raised by humans and fed with a bottle. Thankfully for him, he wasn’t alone. There was another sheep who had suffered the same fate named Rosie. Jake soon got to be very close friends with his “sister” Rosie. The pair won our hearts over and were spared, and now spend their time roaming the pasture with their friends who are also safe from harm.

Cado
Cado was the daughter of a stray who showed up on a couples’ doorstep in Texas, however they could not care for her or her sister Rollie. They didn’t want to give the two to a shelter because most shelters in Texas only give dogs 3 days to get adopted, and if they don't, they put them down. This is because Texas and other southern states have such a large dog population. A study in 2016 showed that there were 8,700 strays, and that was just in Dallas alone! So we drove down to Texas to pick the two sisters up. Her sister RoLLie got adopted in November 2023, and Cado is living her best life in the sanctuary. Cado never fails to make her caretakers laugh with her funny yet kind personalty.

Tina
Late one night on Valentine’s day, a beautiful black cat showed up on our back porch. We tried and tried to find her owner, but no luck. 2 months passed and Tina started getting somewhat big. A few days later... she had 5 kittens! Sue, Tostata, Enchalata, Moony, and
Biggy Smalls. Biggy Smalls got adopted, but the rest, and their mom, are still here at the sanctuary. Tina always brings a smile to her caretakers’ faces with her spunky yet kind and nurturing personalty.

Kevin and his brother Mayan were our first rescues. Their owners were moving away and couldn‘t bring their cats with them. They tried and tried to find home for them with no luck. Eventually it was the day before they moved we came and picked them up. at first, they were mean and mistrusting, but soon they warmed up and are now some of the biggest lovebugs in the sanctuary

Spirit & Chester
Meet
Spirit and Chester suffered a similar fate as Jake. Their mother had twins, and she abandoned them both. Now, it’s not that sheep mothers are horrible, we’ve had some great ones, it’s just that first time mothers get so nervous they don’t know what to do, so they just leave their babies. And not only were Spirit and Chester abandoned, but so were two other lambs, Fire Dragon and Cottontail. We raised the 4 and now they spend their time running around the pasture. Spirit makes us all smile with her outgoing personalty and love of food. Chester is a pretty chill dude and also very sweet, but one thing they have in common is they both love drinking out of the hose when we fill up water!

Nutmeg
Nutmeg was adopted from the Dumb Friends League by a woman years ago. We’re not sure when though. However things with Nutmeg weren’t working out, and the lady gave her to another home. At the second home, things weren’t much better. So the new owner reached out to us. Poor Nutmeg was probably so confused, going from one home to another to another. We drove down to Denver to get Nutmeg and the two other cats who lived there, Orangy and Galaxy, to bring them to their forever home. Today the 3 are living happy and healthy in the sanctuary, and will never have to switch homes again. Nutmeg has a way of making her caretakers chuckle with her
trouble-seeking yet loving demeanor.

Gandalf was born with a life threatening defect. His breeder desperately tried to find a home for him, but no one wanted a dog with an irregularity. She kept persisting when a tragedy happened. She received word that her brother had passed away. She needed someone to take him so she could go to the funeral, which was in another state. That’s where we come in. We drove to Black Forest and picked him up. We got his defect fixed and he now lives carefree at the sanctuary. He makes us all laugh with his funny, amusing, protective, and loving nature. He also loves giving people intense side-eyes.
